Early medical abortion (EMA) is now available to most Northern Ireland residents, depending on place of residence. This is offered within most HSC Trusts on trust premises. It is available currently for women under 10 weeks pregnant.
Women over 10 weeks pregnant (and those resident in Trusts not providing EMA) can also legally obtain abortion. This usually involves travel to England.. This service is fully funded for NI residents including the cost of travel.
No referrals or treatment are offered at present by our clinic.
For any referrals for abortion for NI residents please contact BPAS https://www.bpas.org/
Ways to access our counselling service:
- Walk into the Belfast Clinic during clinic hours: no appointment necessary
- Phone and book an appointment with a counsellor or the doctor
- Phone and request a telephone call from the doctor or a counsellor
This service is confidential, non judgmental, and free of charge.
